Even though the season started last weekend for some football teams throughout Nevada, the Pershing County High School JV and varsity football teams are still prepping for its season openers on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30. The Mustangs traveled to Battle Mountain for a scrimmage on Saturday afternoon against Spring Creek, Elko, Battle Mountain and the Lowry freshmen. The scrimmage gave the teams a chance to shake off the cobwebs and hit someone else. The Pershing County JV travels to Reno on Thursday to play the Manogue freshmen and the varsity squad is in West Wendover on Friday to play the Wolverines
