For many people, the Tri-County Fair is all about carnival rides and corn dogs. But for others, it’s a once-a-year shot to showcase everything from their prize-winning pickles to their picture-perfect petunias.
“This is creative competition at its best,” said Darrel Field, Chairman of this year’s Tri-County Fair & Stampede. Field said the Fair not only provides people with the opportunity to display their talents, but is also a way of preserving the past.
“This gives us all a chance to renew the heritage that brought us to where we are today,” he said. “So many of these things are lost arts and it’s great to see them brought out during the Tri-County Fair.”
This year the Fair will offer competition in more than 20 divisions, including Ceramics, Crafts, Creative Arts, Crocheting, Knitting, Digital Arts, Fine Arts, Floriculture, Foods, Food Preservation, Fruits/Vegetables/Crops, Handwork/Needlework, Photography, Quilting, Recycling, Sewing, Youth Division, and the Create-a-Picture, Write-a-Story, Coloring, Mini-Construction, Pie and Watermelon Eating, Biggest Home Grown, Scavenger Hunt, Poodle Skirt and Shirt Decorating, King Arthur Flour Baking and Build a Robot contests.
