Obituary: Allen Lee Glaeser

Allen Lee Glaeser, 79, passed away on July 25, 2019 at his Winnemucca home. Allen was born on January 27th, 1940 in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. He was the third of eleven children born to Bernice and Marvin Glaeser. 

Allen grew up in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, where he graduated from Buffalo Lake High School. Following graduation, Allen attended airline school, then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1962. Allen served in the Vietnam War on the Navy Ship; USS Dehaven. He served in the Navy until 1966. 

He married his sweetheart, Hazel Cynthia Arellano on June 18, 1966. The loving couple shared 4 children together and had the joy of 9 grandchildren. 

Allen had the opportunity to live in many places such as Los Angeles, CA; Saugus, CA; Chamisal, NM; Grants, NM and Winnemucca, NV. He also had the opportunity to work in many different places. Allen worked for Lancaster Colony Glass Warehouse in Glendale, CA, he worked as a machine operator for Thatcher Glass in California. The Glaeser’s then moved to New Mexico and worked in Uranium Mines from 1975 to 1988 until the mines closed. He then worked at the Nuclear test site, he worked for Santa Fe Pacific Gold and then for Newmont until he retired. 

Allen was raised Lutheran but was baptized into the Catholic Church on July 24, 2019,the day before he passed. One of Allen’s favorite pass times was gardening. 

Allen is survived by his loving wife, Hazel. His children; Eric (Donna) Glaeser, Kristen (Tony) Plascencia, Dion (Carrie) Glaeser and Deandra Glaeser. Grandchildren; David Glaeser, Lauren Glaeser, Elijah Glaeser, Kayla Gray and Gabriel Plascencia, Jacob Glaeser, Marissa Glaeser, Devin Glaeser, and Matthew Glaeser. Brothers; John (Dianne) Glaeser, Steven (Barb) Glaeser, Neal (Kerry) Glaeser. Sisters; Patricia Gilbertson, Carol (Terry) Murray, Barb Loftness, Elayne (Ron) Hested, Deanna Stansbury, and Paula (Greg) Straub. As well as many nieces and nephews. 

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, brother Warren, sister-in-law Cynthia, and brothers-in-law Gordon Gilbertson, Bruce Loftness, and Steve Stansbury. 

The Glaeser Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and office staff of Humboldt General Hospital. Hazel’s Bible Study and Rosary groups and the congregation of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Dr. Albert DeRose, Will, Erica and Gina at the VA office in Winnemucca. 

Services for Allen Glaeser will be held on August 16, 2019. Rosary at 10:30 am and Mass to follow at 11 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow Mass at the Winnemucca Cemetery.
