A big shout out to the people in Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, and Lovelock for all their donations in making the 26th Anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive a huge success! Despite the rainy weather on May 12, 2018, we managed to collect 3,038 pounds of non-perishable food items in Winnemucca. If you weren’t able to participate and would still like to donate, we are withholding the final count until May 30th. Drop your non-perishable food items off at the Winnemucca food bank on 150 S. Bridge Street and ask them to add it to the letter carrier food drive. Can we beat last year’s total of 3,334 pounds? I think so!
A special thank you to the residents and businesses in Winnemucca for allowing us to promote the event by displaying our signs and flyers on their property. Thank you also to Mix 102.7 and Rock 94.3, Buckaroo Radio and News, and NALC Branch 709 (Reno) for providing food drive bags. Another thank you to the Ministerial Association for advertising materials and picking up the food collected. And last but certainly not least, thank you to all the letter carriers for picking up the food collected from our customers. The Post Office is not funded for advertising; thus, the food drive is solely made possible and successful by volunteers such as these. Without you it would not be fruitful!
As always, all food collected in these communities will stay at their local food banks helping people in need in our areas. Thank you again for another great year!
Sincerely,
Cathy Irons
