For Ben Jones, “Home Means Nevada” could not be more true since moving up to northern Nevada from Las Vegas. Loving the desert and the nearby mountains (in case it gets too hot), Battle Mountain has captivated his love of Nevada since first laying eyes on it. Growing up in Ohio, Texas, and southern Nevada, Jones said he is excited to plant some sturdy roots in Lander County.
Although he is in love with Nevada desert, his other passion has been writing. He majored in English at UNLV and has since published poetry in several journals. Always in love with language, he has worked as an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor for the last three years, most recently being at Great Basin College in Elko.
When not writing or tending to his cacti collection, Ben will be out and about Lander County on the hunt for the perfect story, excited to meet all of his new neighbors. He hopes when you see him around, you will stop and say “Hi!”
