Charges against Cameron Wayne Palmer for possession of a drug which may not be introduced into interstate commerce were dismissed on a motion by the Humboldt County DA's Office.



Dec. 29

Ryan David Varela pleaded guilty to failure to yield at an intersection, causing an accident. He was fined $50 + $65 AA. There was no restitution in the case.



Alex Bennie Romo pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed for two years. Defendant was given credit for two days already served. He was ordered to pay a fine of $400 + $125 AA + $60 forensic fee + $100 special DUI fee. He was given $300 credit toward the fines and fees for three days already served in jail. Defendant is to pay $50 a month on remaining fees or serve five hours of community service. He is to complete DUI School and Victim Impact Panel. NO alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician. No further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations.



Mark Anthis Pruitt pleaded guilty to DUI - 1 and speeding 21-30 miles per hour over the limit. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed for two years. Defendant was given credit for two days already served. He was ordered to pay a fine of $400 + $125 AA + $60 forensic fee + $100 special DUI fee. He was given $200 credit toward the fines and fees for two days already served in jail. He is to complete DUI School and Victim Impact Panel. No alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician. No further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations. Fines and fees for count two — speeding are to run concurrent with count one.

Jan. 2

Quinn Pierre Carrica was found guilty at a bench trial of domestic battery. He was fined $200 + $105 AA + $35 special assessment fee. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed for a period of two years. Defendant was given credit for one day already served in jail. Defendant is to serve one more day in jail, or, in the alternative, two days of house arrest, or 48 hours of community service. Defendant ordered to complete 26 sessions of batterers intervention counseling with monthly reports to the court. Judge ordered defendant to get a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendations. No alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician. No further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations. Defendant also admonished that due to his domestic violence conviction — possession, shipment, transportation or receipt of a firearm or ammunition may constitute a felony.



Jan. 3

Travis Robert Taylor was sentenced on misdemeanor battery charges. He was sentenced to pay restitution in the amount of $3,284.95. He was fined $1,000 + $140 AA. The justice of the peace suspended $500 of the fines and fees on condition that the defendant pay the restitution amount in full. A review hearing was set for April 17.



Jan. 4

Two charges against Patience Maria Frazier of furnishing marijuana to a minor were dismissed on a motion by the Humboldt County DA’s Office.



Nathanael Lee Chapman pleaded guilty to DUI-1. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed for one year on condition he serve two days in jail or four days of house arrest. He was fined $400 + $125 AA + $60 forensic fee + $100 Special DUI Fee. Defendant is to pay $50 monthly or do five hours of community service monthly. DUI School ordered; Victim Impact Panel was waived. No alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician. No further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations.

Milo Casper Derijk pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful trespass on land. He was fined $100 + $95 AA. Fines and fees were converted to two days jail time and credit was given for time already served.



Jan. 8

Victor D. Alvarez pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of DUI, failure to obey a traffic control device and failure to use due care in relation to a bicycle or pedestrian. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed on condition he serve 2 days. Defendant was given credit for serving 12 hours in jail. Judge granted defendant’s request to convert the additional 36 hours of jail time to 36 hours of community service. He is to pay a fine of $400 + $125 AA + $60 forensic fee + $100 Special DUI Fee. The fines and fees counts two and three will run concurrent to the DUI charge. DUI School was ordered. The justice of the peace waived the Victim Impact Panel. No alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician. No further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations.
