Preliminary fall schedules out for Lowry

The calendar may have just turned over to April but the preliminary fall schedules for Lowry High School have been announced.

The NIAA has moved up the football season one week and Lowry will begin its 2018 campaign at Pahrump Valley on Friday, Aug. 17. The Trojans will make the return trip to Winnemucca in 2019.

The Northern 3A schedule begins on Friday, Aug. 24, as the Buckaroos will host Sparks at 7 p.m. Lowry will only have four home games this fall and six road contests.

Lowry will make back-to-back road trips to Spring Creek (Aug. 31) and Fernley (Sept. 7) before coming back home to play Truckee on Friday, Sept. 14.

Lowry will head to Reno and play North Valleys on Friday, Sept. 21. North Valleys replaces Wooster in the Northern 3A schedule. The Panthers are moving down from the Northern 4A to be a full member of the Northern 3A.

Lowry will be back at home on Sept. 28 to take on South Tahoe and will travel to Dayton on Oct. 5. The home finale is set for Friday, Oct. 12 against Elko and the regular season concludes at Fallon on Friday, Oct. 19.

The postseason is set to start on Friday, Oct. 26.

The JV and freshmen schedules have not been completed yet. It will likely be finished late in the summer when the number of teams playing are finalized.

The Lowry volleyball team will opens its season at the Yerington tournament on Aug. 24-25 and jump into league play the next week.

The Lady Bucks will make its way to Elko County on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 to play Spring Creek and Elko, respectively. Lowry makes its home debut on Friday, Sept. 7, versus Dayton and on Saturday, Sept. 8, against South Tahoe.

The Lady Bucks will embark on a five-match road trip to close out the first half of the Northern 3A schedule. That slate features Sparks (Sept. 14), Fernley (Sept. 15), Churchill County (Sept. 18), Truckee (Sept. 21) and North Valleys (Sept. 22).

Spring Creek and Elko visit Winnemucca on Sept. 28 and 29. After road trips to South Tahoe (Oct. 5) and Dayton (Oct. 6), Lowry closes out the regular season with five home matches against Sparks (Oct. 12), Fernley (Oct. 13), Truckee (Oct. 19), North Valleys (Oct. 20) and Churchill County (Oct. 25).

The Northern 3A Regional Championships are set for Nov. 2-3 and the NIAA State Championships will be Nov. 9-10 in Reno.

The Lowry girls soccer team opens its year at home on Tuesday, Aug. 28, against Elko. The Lady Bucks hit the road to face Sparks and North Valleys on Sept. 7 and 8, respectively. Lowry returns for three home games against North Tahoe (Sept. 14), Truckee (Sept. 15) and Churchill County (Sept. 18).

The Lady Bucks make their way to Lake Tahoe for the first time to take on Incline (Sept. 21) and South Tahoe (Sept. 22). The first half of the Northern 3A season concludes on Tuesday, Sept. 25, with a home contest versus Spring Creek.

After a week off, Lowry will be back home to play Sparks (Oct. 5) and North Valleys (Oct. 6). A three-match road trip to Churchill County (Oct. 9), North Tahoe (Oct. 12) and Truckee (Oct. 13) follows and Lowry wraps up its home schedule on Oct. 19 and 20 against South Tahoe and Incline, respectively. The regular season ends with a road trip to Spring Creek (Oct. 25) and Elko (Oct. 26).

The Lowry boys soccer schedule will be the opposite of the girls. The Buckaroos open the year at Elko on Aug. 28 and hosts Sparks on Sept. 7 and North Valleys (Sept. 8).

Lowry plays five of its final seven matches of the year home, concluding with Spring Creek (Oct. 25) and Elko (Oct. 26).

The Northern 3A Regional Championships will take place Nov. 1-3.

The girls golf and boys and girls cross country schedules have not been releases yet and will be finalized this summer.
