Born to Shop is now open at 511 S. Bridge St. in Winnemucca. Owner Doris Holley has brought both a new place for women's fashion and custom knitting to town.
Holley has been in retail management for over 30 years and also owned shops in southern California. "My husband and I retired 6 years ago and wanted to move to a nice quiet town with no smog or traffic. We found Winnemucca and fell in love with the rural feel and the friendly people," she said.
Her shop, labeled "An Oasis of Style" carries women's clothing and accessories, and it's the knitting that really makes it special.
"I knit and have entered many items in the local fairs. I am always amazed at the repeat customers who came back to see what I have made that year. Now they can come see me year round and place their orders right in the store and watch me make the items either by hand or on my Knitting machine in my studio."
Holley's machine allows her to use fine yarns including wool from Dufurrena farms. "I like fine yarns and carry many items made with Cashmere, Angora and Alpaca from Peru along with local Dufurrena wool. I know many great knitters here in Winnemucca and encourage them to stop by and possibly display their work."
Besides knits I also carry women’s fine attire and wonderful accessories from jewelry to boots, luggage, hats, gloves, scarves and many more items, she said.
