Extra Mile Day is November 1

November 1 is Extra Mile Day. Mayor Di An Putnam put the city seal on a proclamation officially joining Winnemucca with cities all over the US to recognize the power of an “extra mile attitude” to change the world.

Extra Mile Day is a day to celebrate people and organizations that go the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of others and in their community.

Mayor Putnam said Winnemucca is blessed to have many people who go the extra mile. From the Humboldt Hospital Auxiliary volunteers to dedicated teachers, city and county employees, to involved business owners, and many many others, Winnemucca is blessed by their efforts to go over and above what is expected.

“Winnemucca is a community which encourages its citizens to maximize their personal contribution by giving of themselves wholeheartedly and with total effort commitment and conviction,” the proclamation stated.

“I urge each individual in the community to take time on this day, to not only go the extra mile in his or her own life, but to also acknowledge all those who are inspirational in their efforts and commitment to make their organizations, families, community, country and world a better place,” Putnam said.

Extra Mile Day is the perfect time to renew the commitment to go the extra mile in personal effort, volunteerism and service.
