Winnemucca White Water Swim Team competes at state championship in Carson City

The Nevada State Short Course Championship Meet was held in Carson City, Nevada, November 9-12.  

Three swimmers from Winnemucca's White Water Swim Team qualified for the meet this year. They are coached by Amber Toland and Ann Lizanetz. 

 WWST is a year-round swim team which has been in existence for over 25 years in Winnemucca.  They are a non-profit team, open to swimmers of all ages and abilities.  The swimmers who competed this year in the Championship meet are:

Matthew Lizanetz, age 13, competed in the 50 freestyle and had a time of 27.73. He took 2.07 seconds off his personal best time.

Paris Collins, age 11, raced in the 50 butterfly with a time of 35.18. She took a second off her personal best time.

Makenna Toland, age 8, had a time of 20:45 in the 25 freestyle, taking a second off her best time. 

She swam the 50 freestyle at 49.69 and the 100 freestyle (1:39.37) taking 10.32 seconds off her best time. Toland had a time of 26:58 in the 25 backstroke.

“I am beyond proud of the hard work these three athletes put into obtaining state swim times and the work they put in at practice preparing for the state championship," said coach Amber Toland.

  “I’m excited to see what this next year brings all our swimmers and what they will accomplish!!”
