Obituary: Howard Bass Mitchell III

Howard Bass Mitchell III (Cowboy), passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 10th, 2017 in his home at the too young age of 68. The world has lost a beautiful soul. 

Howard was born in Farmville, Virginia on November 26, 1948. He was the son of Howard B. Mitchell II and Geraldine (Leftwich) Mitchell. He married Nancy Richard in 1975 and the two had a son, Howard B. Mitchell IV. 

Howard was employed as a cowboy, miner, and carpenter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. 

Howard was a talented artist who used his skills and creativity as a knife maker, carving out the most beautiful bone and horn handles that will be cherished by generations to come. 

He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother to all. No one will ever tell a better joke or story than him! He had a great personality, was always kind and accepting, was respected and admired by all. 

Howard was a great man, a very special cowboy and was absolutely one in a million! He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. 

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, long time love and soul mate Patricia Fitzgerald, and brothers Jimmy and Pat. 

He is survived by son Howard B. (Liza) Mitchell IV, grandson Howard B. Mitchell V, brothers George (Jeanne), Allen (Sophie) and Joseph, sisters Deborah and Liz (Larry) and many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life will be held on December 2nd, 2017 at 2p.m. at Gold Diggers Saloon 2210 Rye Patch Reservoir Road, Lovelock, NV 89419.
