While it did not look good in the beginning, the Pershing County High School football team overcame a 17-point deficit to win the NIAA 2A State Football Championship 35-24 this past Saturday afternoon at Lowry High School in Winnemucca. The Mustangs scored the final 28 points of the game, including two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the contest. It was the ninth state championship in school history and the fifth since 2010.
