Alzheimer’s Association Turkey Trot (AATT)

In addition to thoughts of Thanksgiving feasting — The Alzheimer’s Association has an invitation to everyone to get some terrific exercise and join in donating to a great cause. In Winnemucca, on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 23, runners, walkers, bikers and onlookers are invited to join in the Alzheimer’s Awareness Turkey Trott (AATT) and donate to local Alzheimers and dementia-related efforts.

Registration for the Up and AATT ‘em is $30 per person for ages 13 and up. Groups of five people and up can register for $25 each. Each registration comes with a T-shirt to remember the event.

The registration cost for ages five to 12 is $15 and children ages three to five can participate free of charge. Courses of three different lengths are available — 3K, 5K and 8K.

All funds raised will stay local for use in providing for respite care and education programs to benefit those with dementia or Alzheimers and their caregivers, as well as community members in general.

Registration forms are available from Gini Cunningham at gini.cunningham@sbcglobal.net or www.lovedignityalzheimers.net. The Alzheimer’s Awareness Turkey Trott will start at Jerry Tobin Field at Lowry High School. Get fired up and ready to go at the pre-race rally, starting at 7:30 a.m. Pick up the map of the course you’re interested in running and the fun run starts at 8 a.m.
