Chapter L P.E.O. wants you to take a chance

Members of Chapter L P.E.O. in Winnemucca hope you’ll “take a chance” on helping a woman achieve her educational goals.

The philanthropic educational organization has put together two raffle baskets stuffed full of items donated by local businesses. P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization that supports and motivates women to reach their highest aspirations.

The group supports the education of women through scholarships, grants, loans, awards, and the stewardship of Cottey College.  Located in Nevada, MO., Cottey College is an independent liberal arts and sciences college for women owned and supported by P.E.O. since 1927.

Chapter L also sponsors a scholarship for a Lowry High School graduating senior girl. The group actively fundraises throughout the year to help support its projects.

Generous local merchants got behind the scholarship fundraising effort and donated nearly $1,000 in merchandise and gift certificates.

Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25, and are available from any local Chapter L member.  They will also be sold at the Boy Scout Craft Fair Nov. 11.

The name of the two lucky winners will be drawn during the chapter’s annual Christmas party Dec. 13.
