About Project Aware

Project Aware provides free mental health services to children ages 4-18 in Humboldt County. Some of the services include therapy sessions, crisis intervention and play therapy for young children.

Project Aware initially received full federal funding but, as with most grants, the funding has been reduced. Project Aware was initiated on a federal level to enhance mental health of school children and increase school safety. Locally, the project has benefited many children and their families but, in order for the counseling and mental health assistance to continue, funding will have to be raised to replace the grant funding no longer available.
