A college savings account for Christmas?

The Nevada State Treasurer’s Office encourages families to give a gift this holiday season that will help fulfill the dreams of a college education for many children and their parents. Instead of giving toys, clothes or other traditional gifts that a child will outgrow, give a gift that will last a lifetime.

Ugift is a free service that allows family and friends to provide a significant gift to children by giving a monetary contribution to their SSGA Upromise 529 account. No other gift could be more special than making a child’s dream come true.

“Give a present this holiday season that helps your family members with their future,” said Dan Schwartz, Nevada State Treasurer. “With Ugift you will be giving a gift that lasts forever.”

Anyone can contribute to a Ugift account. Parents who own an SSGA Upromise 529 Plan account can generate a unique code, which then they can share it with their family and friends to ask them to contribute. Find out how to generate your code at Ugift529.com.

Plans offered by the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office include the Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program, SSGA Upromise 529 Plan, the Vanguard 529 College Savings Plan, the USAA 529 College Savings Plan, Putnam 529 for America and Wealthfront 529 College Savings Plan. Each plan is different and they can be used together to offer families a complete savings strategy.
