Ethel Hornbarger, passed away at her home in Winnemucca on December 15, 2017, just 10 days short of her 98th birthday.
Ethel was born on December 25, 1919, in Golconda, Nevada, to Jerome and Cicely (Buckley) Etchegoyhen. She was married to William K. Hornbarger with whom she had seven children.
Ethel retired at age seventy-two after working fifty-six years for the Humboldt Hotel and then the Joe Mackey family businesses.
After retirement, she volunteered her services at the Senior Center for twenty-three years, serving on the Board of Directors for two terms.
Ethel was predeceased by her husband, William, her daughters, Rose Mary (Wright) and Barbara (Wilson); and her sons, Leonard (Tammy), Michael (Sherry), and Karl.
She is survived by her son William (Tonette), daughter Bernadette (Herschel) Williams, and her brother Thomas Etchegoyhen, as well as three generations of grandchildren.
Ethel and her family would like to thank Jeremy Hurst for his compassionate care.
At Ethel’s request, no services will be held and interment is private. Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Senior Center in Winnemucca.
