Lady Mustangs ace Warrior Classic; win four games

This past weekend, the Pershing County High School girls basketball team traveled to Zephyr Cove. They competed in their second preseason tournament – the Warrior Classic.

“The tourney was a great bonding experience,” he said. “I was proud of the team’s effort all weekend. They elevated their level of play. We’re ready for some league games.”

Lovelock beat Hug (43-25), Owyhee (54-46), Mammoth (61-32) and Truckee (36-24).

With the four wins, the Lady Mustangs improved to 8-2 on the season.

The JV girls traveled to Battle Mountain for the Longhorn Invitational this past weekend. They knocked off West Wendover and Tonopah. But they lost to Battle Mountain and White Pine.

The girls put preseason behind them to start league play on Tuesday, Dec. 12. They hosted the Lady Highlanders from Incline. Results were not available at press time.

On Saturday, the JV and varsity girls travel to Carson City for non-conference match-ups beginning at 11:45 a.m. The Lady Mustangs stay home for three weeks. On Friday, Dec. 22, the varsity girls host North Tahoe for a league match-up at 6 p.m.

On Thurs., Dec. 28, Pershing’s JV girls tip off against Dayton at 11 a.m. The varsity girls follow at 2 p.m.

On Wed. Jan. 3, 2018, the JV girls tip off against Wooster at 3 p.m. The varsity girls follow at 6 p.m.
