Obituary: Hungry (Michael Gordon Meissner)

Born Michael Gordon Meissner of Backus, Minnesota on April 17, 1950 to Gordon and Pat Meissner, Hungry spent his early years in the Backus area.  He attended Backus Public School as his father had and worked locally as a mechanic, truck driver, equipment operator and other jobs that utilized his skills around big equipment.  He passed away peacefully from natural causes on November 19 at his home in Winnemucca.

He moved to Nevada in the 1970’s returning to Minnesota briefly before settling in the west where he loved the open spaces.

Mike was known by many in the Winnemucca and Orovada area as HUNGRY (many had no idea of his given name) for his skill as a guy who could fix many things.  All his life he made his way by using his hands and to fix things in his capable and creative way.

Mike is survived by his mother Pat, sisters Linda (Harold), Jeanette, and Carol (Neil), one brother Jeff and one niece and 6 nephews, and several great nieces and nephews, all of Minnesota.

Hungry is also survived by many friends in Minnesota and in Nevada including caring friends from the Club 40 and Sundance Casino in Winnemucca, all who cared enough to look in on him any time he didn’t show up for a couple of days.
