Recumbent bike racer Todd Reichert and his AreoVelo-designed machine set a new worlds record for speed at the World Human Powered Speed Challenge, going on through Sept. 18 outside Battle Mountain. Reichert pedaled his aerodynamic vehicle at 88.26 mph (142.04 km/hr) on Wednesday, Sept. 14 just before 7 p.m. He was racing the five-mile course.
