UPDATE: Search underway for missing Winnemucca man

Juan Carrillo, a Humboldt County citizen, is reportedly missing somewhere near Chimney Reservoir. Humboldt County Sheriff's Office has not yet given a full update, but has confirmed that there is a team en route to find Carrillo.

UPDATE:

Humboldt General Hospital has committed to use their AirOne helicopter to assist in the search.

Capt. Kevin Malone was unable to comment on the number of staff on hand helping with search and rescue efforts as of 4 p.m., but did state that there were more deputies en route.

Sheriff Mike Allen is running incident command. Search and rescue is working with Carrillo's friends and family to find the young man.

According to Capt. Malone, 19 year-old Carrillo was reported missing by his family at 9 p.m. last night after he failed to return from a fishing trip at Chimney Reservoir.

Carrillo made contact with his mother this morning, who told officers that Carrillo's phone battery was at 2 percent at that time. Carrillo told his mother that his car was stuck and that he was walking along an unknown dirt road.

A search commenced yesterday evening, but yielded no results. HCSO committed to help with the search this morning, but did not receive contact from the family until about 2 p.m.

“We hope he's okay,” said Capt. Malone.

UPDATE:

Search and Rescue remained in the Chimney reservoir area overnight. Civil Air Patrol has joined the search for Carrilo.

According to an HCSO update on Facebook, issued at 11:45 p.m.:

The post reads:

"No positive updates as of yet. Search and Rescue personnel will stay in the area overnight. Sheriff Allen notified the Nevada Department of Emergency Management and the Air Force Emergency Network. Each of these agencies will complete cell phone analysis and work ups regarding Juan's age and health to determine possible routes and directions travelled. Through the Air Force, the Civil Air Patrol will begin flying the areas at day light. Every person and every agency involved remains dedicated to finding Juan and reuniting him with his family."

HCSO requested that groups interested in participating with the search check in with incident command at Chimney Reservoir.

"Overnight, all work ups and analysis were completed by NV DEM and the Air Force. Several probable locations were developed. That information is being delivered to the incident command right now."

UPDATE:

Civil Air Patrol (CAP) has confirmed that they are ready to join the search. One plane is ready to launch, and they are "waiting for safety information," according to local CAP Public Affairs Officer Terry Bush. 

Capt. Malone has stated that HCSO has received a number of offers to help locate Carrillo. "We're not turning anyone down," said Malone. However, he stated again that anyone interested in helping first check in with Incident Command at Chimney Reservoir. This will ensure that officials know who is out searching and that areas that have already been searched are not searched again. 



Capt. Malone stated that the information received from the Nevada Dept of Emergency Management will determine "probable locations" where Carrillo might be found. He went on to say that this information is "usually right on."

"Our searchers are rested and ready to get back out there," said Capt. Malone. 

 Sheriff Allen will be joining Pat Songer EMS chief in his personal plane today to continue the search.

Additionally, Elko County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue has just joined the search. They will travel through the Tuscarora Mountains into Midas and then into Chimney, according to Capt Malone. Lander County Sheriff's Office has also reportedly offered to assist and is standing by. 

Capt. Malone stated, "We want to thank everyone for their support and assistance. We're going to keep going until he is found."

"We found him!" Capt Malone said, "He's in good spirits and does not need medical attention." 

Search and Rescue is returning Carrillo to Incident Command, where he will be reunited with his family.
