The Sun printed in the Friday Oct. 30th issue that the sewer fees would double on January 1, 2016. This has caused some confusion. To lessen the impact on the city’s users, the City Council approved two rate increases over a 23 month period. The first went into effect on February 1, 2014, when rates shot from $21 a month to $30 a month. The second will go into effect on January 1, 2015, with the increase going from $30 a month to $39.70 a month.

The fees will not be doubling from the rate increase made in February, but rather from the original fee of $21 a month. The Sun regrets not making it clearer for the readers.
