Norman G. Maga

July 13, 1941 - March 18, 2025

Norman G. Maga passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2025 with family by his side.
He was born July 13, 1941 to Cynthia Ann Maga and Norman Nicolas Maga in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Norman (Norm), a self-taught mechanic with an 8th grade education, at age 23 married Lucille A. Maga age 20 on November 17, 1963.
The young courageous couple packed up all they had in their car and made their way from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Winnemucca, Nevada.
They stayed with Norms 3rd cousin, Bill Femling. This was when they welcomed their first child, Dean, after the couple received their United States citizenship.
While working hard and living in Winnemucca, Norm and Lucille welcomed their second child Randy in 1966.
Shortly after Randy was born, they moved to the small town of Yerington, Nevada where Norm drove truck and Lucille worked in the local hospital.
In 1969 Norm and Lucille welcomed their third child Alexis. After another 3 years of working in Yerington, Norm and Lucille made their way back to Winnemucca.
This began their life of living the innocent but true American Dream.
Norm and Lucille began the purchase of their first truck in 1972. Norm drove the truck leasing it to FB Truck Lines, earning the CB radio call name Storman Norman, due to his epic salty attitude when things were not going to plan.
The purchase of this truck was the first step to living the dream that turned into reality.
After many years with FB Truck Lines, Norm and Lucille decided to venture out on their own.
They started Maga Trucking with five trucks working out of their house on the corner of Bridge Street and Nimitz Avenue.
As the mining industry started to grow and boom in Northern Nevada, so did Maga Trucking.
With the growth of the trucking company, the decision was made to purchase the Armstrong property on West Winnemucca Boulevard where Maga Trucking still exists.
Norman and Lucille divorced after 33 years, however, Maga Trucking and Crane continues to thrive under Norms son Randy and his grandson Jake.
Norman met Karen Thompson and they were married on his 59th Birthday July 13, 2000.
They decided to move from Winnemucca and headed to Wyoming. Norman put his self-taught skill of being a diesel mechanic to work.
Norm worked with another mechanic in Wyoming, but decided the cold and wind wasn’t what for him. Norm, Karen and her daughters Erin, Jessica and Sierra moved to Las Vegas where he continued to “turn wrenches”. During their time in Las Vegas, Norm and Karen became avid NASCAR fans. Attending many races in Las Vegas.
They both also had the pleasure of meeting Carroll H. Shelby, the iconic racecar designer and driver, as Karen spent a short time working for Carroll.
Eventually the couple made their way back to Winnemucca and Norm went back to work driving truck and turning wrenches for Maga Trucking until his retirement.
Norm was very proud of the business he built as he had the joy and opportunity to work with and teach Dean, Randy and Alexis about what he knew and loved to do.
After his retirement, Norm was able to check off two “Bucket List” items in 2024.
He and Karen attended a NASCAR Race in Daytona and finally made it to Disney World in Florida.
Norm is proceeded in death by his sister Deloris Maga, brother Richard Maga, step father Art Becker, father Norman N. Maga, mother Cynthia Becker, and sister Georgie McDonagh.
