Mary Ellen McNinch

Our mom, Mary Ellen McNinch, passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 11, 2025, in Winnemucca, Nevada. Mary was born in Winnemucca on November 20, 1946, the second child to David Howard and Opal Ruth McNinch. Along with her older brother, David, Jr. and younger brother, John. Mary grew up on the McNinch Ranch to the west of Winnemucca near the Humboldt River. Ranch life involves the whole family, and Mary worked alongside her parents and siblings. Because Mary was such a talented cook, she often served in that role when at cowboy camp with her family. Mary attended school in Winnemucca and graduated from Humboldt High School. She enjoyed the choir and debate team, which was perfect for her as she enjoyed interacting with people and speaking. She had three children: Janie, Glenn and Jennifer. Roy T Barnes-

Roy T Barnes was born on July 16th, 1953, to Thomas and Hilma Barnes in Jackson Michigan. He spent his childhood in the house his dad built, with his older brother, Doug. They didn’t have indoor plumbing until he was in high school, and used, in his words, the two-seater outside. He worked at the YMCA and spent a lot of his time boating, swimming, and picking potatoes for 10 cents a bushel. He graduated from East Jackson High in 1971. He joined the Army right out of high school. In the Army, he went to Oklahoma, Texas, and managed to find himself in Utah, where he met Noel, fell in love with her and her three kids, Amy, Stacey, and Andy. They married in December in 1979, and his daughter, Nykky was born in April of 1980. Noel tragically died in February of 1983. Roy raised Nykky alone. Fate …

Floyd R. Capell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Brother, Uncle, and Friend, Floyd R. Capell, who was called home on February 26, 2025, at the age of 70. Floyd was born to Charles Zeb and Mearl Ethel Mowers Capell on September 13, 1954, and was the 6th of 10 children. Floyd graduated from Grace High School in 1972. Later in his career, he made the decision to move to Winnemucca, Nevada, over 30 years ago, where he lived, worked and retired. A skilled and dedicated mechanic, Floyd earned a reputation for his ability to fix nearly anything that came his way. His expertise and commitment to his craft led him to retire from a fulfilling career working as a mechanic in the mines of Nevada. Allan R. Woodland

Alan was born on September 24, 1973, in Winnemucca Nevada. He was the 8th of ten children born to William Gail and Karen E Woodland. Alan was a plump ten-pound baby and was easily loved by his siblings. He had a sharp mind that was apparent early on. He attended school in Battle Mountain, class of 1992. He was a natural athlete and participated in football. His positions were running back and linebacker. He was also a naturally strong swimmer. He had a talent for art and had a drawing of his featured on the KOLO weather station. In his youth he also participated in boy scouts and enjoyed many camping trips and hikes. He was an avid hunter while growing up, which he learned from his father, hunting in the Rock Creek area, Mount Lewis, and the Apple Orchard near Battle Mountain, with his dad and siblings. He also …

Yolanda Calderon Alcaraz

Yolanda Calderon Alcaraz passed away on February 25, 2025, in Winnemucca, Nevada. She was born on October 14, 1954, in El Bordo, Colima, Mexico to Manuel Alcaraz and Maria Cardenas. She married Gerardo Calderon in 1978. The two had 2 children, Yolanda and Belen. Yolanda lived in Winnemucca for 45 years. She worked as an environmental manager at Humboldt General Hospital for 22 years. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was deeply loved by so many and had a profound impact on countless lives. No matter the situation, she was always there, ready to lend a helping hand with compassion and kindness. She is survived by her husband, Gerardo Calderon. Her children, Yolanda Gardner and Belen Moran. Her grandchildren, Araceli Galarza, Alexis Galarza, Julissa Moran, Julian Moran and Jayvian Moran. Carl Fredric Clinger

In Loving Memory of Carl Fredric Clinger December 27, 1942 – December 8, 2023 Carl Fredric Clinger, born in Lovelock, Nevada, on December 27, 1942, passed away on December 8, 2023, at his birthplace. He was the son of Edna Morae Shute Clinger Holliday and Earnest Orrin Clinger. Carl leaves behind his loving Life Partner, Gloria Montero, his older brother Cecil Clarence Clinger, and half-sister Florence Beard. Carl’s three children are: Karl Marke (Rebecca), Kristine Morae (Michael), and Kimberly Michelle Clinger. He was also a devoted grandfather to Ralph Rodrigues IV, Tor Clinger, Petra Clinger Shultz (John), and Zach Clinger, as well as proud great-grandfather to Lila Mae. Additionally, Carl was blessed with a bonus great-granddaughter, Bonnie Faye, along with a cherished family of cows, llamas, chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats, and goats. Jeff Davis Ellifritz

Jeff Davis Ellifritz was born September 5, 1965, in Winnemucca, Nevada the fifth child of Don and Marly Lou Ellifritz making him the baby of the family arriving at 12:45 a.m. kicking and screaming setting the tone for how he would live his life going Mach 2 with “his hair on fire”. Being the baby had its downfalls following around the older kids trying to keep up which would cost his teddy bear his ears, Donnie was convinced he was too old for a teddy bear at four. Jeff could fix about anything from a young age, he started putting bicycle’s together for his parents at Montgomery Wards while still in grade school. In junior high he moved on to Eddy’s Chevron expanding his mechanical skills. Dorothy Caroline LeBel

Dorothy Caroline LeBel passed away on February 18, 2025, at her home in Winnemucca, Nevada. She was born on May 24, 1968, to Irvin and Virginia Seymore in Gallup, New Mexico. She enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1985, and she was discharged in 1994. She received a master’s degree in English from the University of Colorado – Boulder. She moved to Winnemucca, Nevada in 2011 and married Bertrand “Bert” P. LeBel in 2013 and the two shared many wonderful years together. In Winnemucca, she worked as a dealer at a local casino from 1999 to 2009. Dorothy loved to read; her favorite author was Mercedes Lackey. She also loved fishing, singing karaoke, crocheting and listening to the noise of life. She was more than willing to help others, “If we have it to give, it’s yours. Just ask” - She’d always say.
