Marian Katherine Porter

November 14, 1946 - May 24, 2025

We lost our Dear friend Marian Porter on May 24, 2025. 
Marian was born November 14, 1946 in Santa Monica, California to parents Willard Garrett and Sophia Mills Garrett.
She had two siblings, Sister Chris and Brother Gary. 
After elementary and High school Marian received licenses in both Cosmotology and Real Estate.
She was a beautician in Lake Tahoe, NV. 
Marian married Duane Porter on July 27, 1978 in Stateline, NV. Duane was co-owner of Porter and Meissner a mining corporation.  Marian worked as their bookkeeper. 
They started in Lovelock and then made Battle Mt. their home base contracting out for various mining ventures. 
Marian and Duane opened their home to all the neighborhood kids and Marian kept them busy with crafts and activities. 
Marian stayed in Battle Mountain and always kept busy by helping her  friends. 
She was always helping people in need and playing taxi for someone needing to run errands. 
Marian was preceeded in death by her parents, sister Chris and brother Gary.
She is survived by her Niece Lori (Joe) of California her Nephew Scott (Lisa) of Arizona and their children, Nephews Alex and Blake Garrett of California as well as her many friends in Battle Mountain who considered her family. 
Celebration of life will be July 12, 2025 at the Battle Mt. Civic Center at 11:00 AM with a salad luncheon.
