Mary (Riha) Trout

September 30, 1924 - October 24, 2024

In Loving Memory of Mary (Riha) Trout

Mary (Riha) Trout left us peacefully on October 24, 2024.
Mary was born in Idaho on September 30, 1924.
The family moved to Winnemucca, then Unionville, eventually settling in Lovelock, NV.
After graduating from high school, Mary enlisted in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), a reserve unit of the U. S. Navy.
Eventually, Mary settled in Southern California and had a career working for the Bank of America.
Mary was a loving spouse to (Wallace) Red Trout, and a devoted parent to sons Ed and Denny, and daughter Donna.
Mary’s adult life always seemed to be a complete contrast to her childhood.
It was a tough life, but through perseverance and hard work, she became the wonderful person that she was.
I always remember her as being so sophisticated. She was always so well dressed, her hair was perfect, and her nails were always done.
She was also so well spoken. Even though she grew up in rural Nevada, in a Czech household, she had that big city, Southern California sophistication.
Her, her brother, and her sisters were/are so intelligent and well-spoken. It says a lot about her family and her rural education.
Her brother and sisters also all had an incredible thirst for knowledge. One way Mary satisfied that thirst, was through travel. Mary loved to travel.
She traveled the world with her husband Red, and it was always interesting to hear her talk about her many travels.
The only thing that interested her more than travelling was her love of playing bridge. She also loved cooking, shopping, and gardening.
Even though she settled in the L.A. area, she never lost her love of rural Nevada and rockhounding.
The highlight of most visits to our area was going into the hills looking for that ever elusive gold, or those wonderful crystals hiding in the dirt around Lovelock.
Her hair always looked great, and she was never afraid to get those well-manicured nails dirty.
Rest in peace, Mary. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
