Richard “Rick” McCallum passed away on March 29, 2025, at his home in Winnemucca, Nevada.
He was born on September 6, 1951, to Marceline Garcia and Warren McCallum in Watsonville, California.
He grew up in the Watsonville area with his family until 1962.
The family then moved to Florida, where they would stay for 7 years and finally made their way back to Watsonville, where he graduated from Watsonville High School with the Class of 1970.
He worked in auto parts sales throughout his life. In 1987, while working at a Chevy Dealership, he met the love of his life, Cathy.
They shared many years together and were together until the end.
He and Cathy moved to Winnemucca, Nevada in 2008 to help out his parents. There he started working in Casinos, working on the floor and bartending. He made friends so easily with his wit and sense of humor during his work.
He loved working in his shed and fixing things – cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and anything else he found.
He was a NASCAR fan, and his latest hobby was coin collecting. When he was younger, he rode and raced motorcycles, along with his mom, dad and sister.
He almost won the Florida State Championship at 16 but fell on the last lap. His prized possession was his 2011 Harley Davidson that he bought in 2015.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Hulen, his children, Eric McCallum (Alexis), Kendra Roth, Amy McCallum-Cooper, and Timothy Lynch.
His mother, Marceline Yarn, his brother, Hank Hayden (Jennifer) and sister, Chris Kittrell (Robert).
He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Ken Yarn, his brothers Warren McCallum (Linda) and David McCallum (Nita).
The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Genesis Home Health and Hospice for all of their care.
