Lydia Thomsen

Lydia Thomsen, 80, resident of Las Vegas, NV, was born in Bloomington, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 29, 1944, Lydia lived a life filled with adventure, love, and resilience.
At a young age of 15 she started a family and worked in AG Texas & Michigan,
She then went on to work in Blackfoot, Idaho where she worked with her sons in the potato fields.
Later she moved to Winnemucca in 1972, where she worked for Winnemucca Farms, Humboldt General Hospital, Model T and French's Plant where she joined Teamsters Union. She then started driving truck at Valmy power plant, TG Shepard Construction, Honeywell Construction and Kuck Trucking.
She also had the chance to work on the Top Gun filming site.
A pioneer in her own right, Lydia was a dedicated truck driver, navigating the highways with skill and determination for many years.
Her passion for the open road was matched only by her love for her family, to whom she was a constant source of strength and guidance.
Lydia is survived by her three children, Rudy Salas, Ruben Salas, and Maria Noyola-Torres, along with a host of adoring grandchildren, great-grand children, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories they created with her.
She is also survived by her siblings David Valdez, Israel Valdez, Samuel Valdez and Joe Valdez, as well as her good friend, Vern Hapke.
Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, Cruz and Natalie Valdez, grand children Joe and Mark Torres, and siblings, John Valdez Senior, Olga Vasquez and Elsa Valdez.
Her legacy of hard work, love, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Lydia's family invites friends and loved ones to a celebration of her life on October 10th 2024 at 11:00am at Mountain View Cemetery 435 Stoker Avenue Reno, NV where her vibrant spirit will be remembered and honored.
