Ronald Franklin Gandolfo passed away on May 9th, 2024.
Ron was born May 31st, 1936 in Reno, Nevada, to Irene and Franklin Gandolfo.
He spent the majority of his childhood in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1954. Shortly thereafter, he married his sweetheart Theresa Jolly.
Together, they built a life they loved and had three daughters: Valerie, Sabrina and Michele.
Many years after Theresa’s passing, Ron married Altha Benson and spent time with her family in American Fork, Utah.
Though Altha passed away not many years after they wed, Ron always said he was grateful for the opportunity to have two great loves in his life.
Known affectionately as “Pop”, Ron was a family man through and through. He had a number of jobs, including Austin Post Master and school bus driver. Because he was so involved with the Austin Schools, he became like every child’s beloved grandpa.
If you’ve ever been to Austin, you were likely waved at by Ron. He had a smile and a kind word ready for anyone and a joy that was infectious.
Ron enjoyed fishing, dancing, turquoise mining, good conversation, rodeo, Austin, and spending time with his family.
Waiting for him at the door to heaven was his sister Bonnie Maestretti, parents Irene and Franklin Gandolfo, and wives Teresa Gandolfo and Altha Benson.
He is survived by his brother Larry, three daughters, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He will be remembered for a lifetime legacy of family and love.
A celebration of Ron’s beautiful life will be held in Austin, Nevada, at the Town Hall on June 22, 2024, at 2 p.m.
