Connie Elder, of Denio, Nevada, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, March 11, 2024, in Weiser, Idaho.
Connie was born on May 13, 1947 in Berkley, California to Edward and Florence McGuire. Connie was raised in Placerville, California with her sister and two brothers.
She married Joel Elder just out of high school and moved to Hawthorne, Nevada.
Together they raised two sons, Doug and Matt Elder and helped to raise her niece, Darcie.
Some of the greatest joys in Connie’s life were the interactions she had with people while managing the office for Sierra Pacific Power Company in Hawthorne, running in the desert each morning with her best friend Sherry, and working at the post office in Denio, Nevada with her good friend Terry.
Connie’s lifelong passions were quilting, gardening, taking care of her houseplants and flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She took great comfort in being in the mountains on horseback or riding in a pickup or just hangin’ out/camping with family and friends.
Connie thrived on being a mom and caring for those around her – she truly enjoyed housework, laundry, and baking cookies.
Connie is survived by her partner in life, Joel Elder of Denio, Nevada; son Doug (Candice) of Weiser, Idaho; son Matt of Reno, Nevada; Grandson Damon Elder (Gabi) of Fallon, Nevada; Granddaughter Demmi Dunstan (Nick) of Boise Idaho; Granddaughter Quinn Elder of Reno, Nevada, and Grandson Clete Elder of Reno Nevada.
She had three great grandchildren, Dakota, Maylee, and Lainey Dunstan of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Stenson of San Francisco, California and brother John McGuire of Reno, Nevada.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Florence McGuire and her brother Merlin McGuire.
