He was born at Humboldt General Hospital to Lawrence and Cathy (Wilson) Wirthlin on September 7, 1960, the youngest of three sons.
Dennis attended Winnemucca schools and graduated from Albert Lowry High School in 1979.
Dennis was quite athletic and played basketball all four years of high school as a Lowry Buckaroo. As a young adult, Dennis played City League basketball, baseball, and coached youth sports. Dennis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Dennis married Wendi Miller in Winnemucca on July 18, 1981.
They welcomed two daughters, Heather and Noel, over the next several years. The couple later divorced.
Dennis held various positions at Raley’s Supermarket in Winnemucca over the years and spent his last few years of employment there as the Assistant Manager.
For the past 27 years, Dennis has lived in various long-term care facilities, with Harmony Manor being his home since 2009.
Dennis enjoyed visiting with staff, residents, and visitors who stopped by--no matter who they came to see.
Other favorite activities included listening to music, listening to sports on TV, playing bingo, and going on various outings as part of Harmony Manor activities.
Dennis very much enjoyed living at Harmony Manor and felt the people there were family. Dennis also looked forward to spending holiday dinners with his own family.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Heather (Shawn) Frydendall, daughter Noel (Drew) Jenkins, brother Larry (Donna) Wirthlin, and grandchildren Jace, Gage, Briella, Anaya Frydendall and Pyper Green, all of Winnemucca, plus several nieces and nephews throughout the country.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, brother Steve Wirthlin, grandson Paxton Green, and nephew Scott Wirthlin.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the Winnemucca Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Harmony Manor for the years of care they gave to Dennis and the HGH ER and Acute staff who provided care to Dennis the past 3 weeks.
