Gayla Anderson passed away on June 25, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Gayla was born to Hiram ‘Rex’ and Virginia Rose Martin on December 4, 1937 in Oakley, ID.
She was the second eldest daughter with sisters Sally, Linda, Carla, and Nancy.
Gayla was raised LDS in Idaho, graduating from Oakley High School before moving down to Winnemucca, NV at the age of 18.
Here she married Edward Marcuerquiaga and had three children, Brent, Nancy and Karrie. During her 22 years in Winnemucca, Gayla worked at numerous local businesses including Bliss’s Dress Shop and JB Liquor.
She returned to Idaho and worked as a grocery checker at Safeway before heading down to Arizona where she waitressed and lived with her closest friend, Ross Jones.
Later she began snow birding between Arizona and Nevada.
Gayla enjoyed so many activities, including puzzles, bottle hunting, gardening, yard sales, watching game shows, and playing pinochle with her card group.
She was also involved in different groups and clubs, including the Elks Lodge as a Doe, the Winnemucca Booster Club, and Scouts.
Gayla is survived by her children Brent Marcuerquiaga, Nancy Snyder, and Karrie (Art) Villarreal, her grandchildren Lacy Villarreal, Jessica Villarreal, Megan Villarreal, Matthew Snyder, Justin Snyder, Ashley Snyder, and Shelby Snyder, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, close nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hiram and Virginia Martin, her sisters Sally (Dennis) Port, Linda Martin Bradshaw, Carla Martin Oronos, and Nancy Joyce Martin, her nephews Tyler Jackson and Marty Port, and her closest friend Ross O. Jones.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 10AM at the Winnemucca cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pleasant Senior Center of Winnemucca, NV.
