Smith James Keller

March 8, 2001 - December 8, 2024

On December 8th, we lost our bright young son to a quiet battle with depression.
Smith James Keller left us at the age of 23. He was born on March 8th 2001 in Winnemucca Nevada to Nick and Kristine Keller.
He was also a big brother and best friend to Drake Keller.
Smith graduated from Lowry High School in 2018. Smith lived his life in Winnemucca Nevada.
Smith worked as a mechanic in the mining industry across Nevada. He worked for Cyanco early in his career and then moved onto the underground mines.
These included TR underground (for NGM, SMD and later for Empire Caterpillar).
At work Smith was known for his impeccable work ethic and constant pursuit of improvement.
He was driven to perform at his best. His coworkers would call him “peacock” when he would get a job done in good fashion then strut a bit.
Off the job, Smith “Smitty” Keller enjoyed many things like music. He played the guitar and could name most any song.
He also enjoyed motorcycles since he was a young child.
We nearly lost him to this hobby in April of 2022 when a deer outside of Paradise Valley Nevada rudely interrupted a 110-mph run. His toughness was proven when he got up and walked it off.
Smith later took up trap shooting and went to many shoots with friends from work across the western states.
Earlier in his life, Smith was found on our family boat trips with friends nearly every weekend.
During these trips Smith would compete with his brother Drake in both wake boarding and wake surfing challenges leading to hours of entertainment.
One of the best events Smitty competed in on our boat trips was the “Full send only” dismounts from the surf board at the highest possible speed.
He was preceded in death by his life long friend and Granddad Ronald “Big Ron” Warrick.
Smith was survived by his Father and Mother Nick and Kristine, Drake Keller and Saige Kirchesh, Grandfather James Keller, grandmothers Pauline Keller and Jaunita Warrick, uncles Charles, Levi, and Jacob Keller, Aunts Rhonda Warrick, Tamera Summers (and family) and Lois Keller, cousins Hope and Lane Jones, Lilliana, Eve and Alita Keller. He also left behind many friends.
Our son will always be remembered for the way he lit up a room, his hilarious antics, as well as his deep emotions.
Smitty loved with his whole heart as all who he loved truly know.
He will always be remembered fondly by all that he touched.
There is always someone willing to listen, reach out. Suicide Hotline 988.
A special thank you to Thomas Fuller for the help in his final time with our son. We have chosen not to have services.
