In Loving Memory of Florine Anna Moon
(November 4, 1939 – December 8, 2024)
Florine Anna Moon entered the world on February 4, 1939, in Raton, NM, and peacefully passed away on December 8, 2024, in Trinidad, CO at the Legacy.
She was the first child of Estel and Hesper Garrett and was raised in Raton alongside her two brothers.
In Raton, she met her first husband, Andy Horner, with whom she had three children who will forever cherish her memory.
Florine began her career as a grocery clerk at City Market in Raton, where she created lasting memories and friendships over many years of dedicated service.
In 1978, she relocated to Winnemucca, NV, continuing her career at Raley’s Grocery, where she received numerous awards for her hard work and commitment.
That same year, she married Gene Moon and resided in Winnemucca until 2014.
After Gene’s passing, Florine returned to Raton to be close to her beloved family. She devoted her time to the MCMC Auxiliary Thrift Shop and enjoyed lunches at the Senior Citizens Center.
Florine will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debby and husband Bruce Abshere, Randy and wife Terry Horner, as well as her grandchildren LaDonna Moltrer, Angie Abshere, Cole Abshere, Randy Horner Jr., and Christopher Horner.
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Destiny Horner, Jade Horner, Mason Horner, Brantley Abshere, Tyler Moltrer, and Trystan Moltrer, along with her dear brother, Rod Garrett.
She is now reunited with her parents, Estel and Hesper Garrett, brother Gerald Garrett, husband Gene Moon, and son Ricky Horner in the presence of the Lord.
A celebration of Florine’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home in Raton, NM.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Miners Colfax Medical Center (MCMC) Auxiliary in Raton.
