Mike Scott

Mike Scott, a master of business, a master mechanic and a master funny guy, passed away Tuesday July 23, 2024 at his home in Winnemucca NV. at the age of 55.
Mike was born Michael Samuel Scott in Centerville, IA to Michael and Elaine Scott.
Always one for an adventure and looking for a better life, Mike headed West when he turned 18.
He married his first wife. After a brief stay in California, he moved to Winnemucca and took a job at WinnersCasino as a maintenance/security guard.
Mike knew when he started the job he wasn’t staying and soon he started at the mines.
He then had his 2 girls, Amanda and Ashlee. Mike was always trying to improve and make things better.
In 1996 he began building computers which quickly led to building his internet business.
In 1999 he was able to close the door on his mining career and open Performance Computing.
Opening Performance connected him more to this town and the community he loved.
In 2005 Mike found a new adventure and his passion for racing was born.
Starting off racing a mini mod, it did not take long to move to other classes, each day his love of the sport grew.
He saw a sport that he could not only involve his whole family in, but also became a member of the racing family.
Mike was involved with the Winnemucca Regional Raceway in several different capacities but mostly as its biggest fan and support.
Over the years he became part of all the Northern Nevada tracks in one way or another.
He would always say “Pull those belts tight one last time” to the racers as they came out of turn 4 with one lap to start.
In 2010 he met his wife Kelly and in true Mike fashion he was determined and did not back away from the challenge of adding her 4 boys to his family.
He was all in with Kelly and in 2011 they were married.
Mike had many business ventures throughout his life with his latest being Patriot Rentals and Uhaul.
He also loved to buy and sell cars which led him to getting his used car dealer’s license (so he wouldn’t get in trouble). He was even an Internet Ordained Minister.
Known for his business savvy, his dedication to bringing entertainment to the community such as his Monster Ride Bus, and the Winnemucca Monsters Show, were most enjoyed by him.
Mike was also known for being a funny, caring, and loving husband, father, and friend.
Mike is survived by his mother, Elaine Spurgeon, Brother Martin Scott, Sister Katie (Bryan) McDanel, Wife Kelly Scott, Daughters Amanda and Ashlee Scott, Sons, Joe(Shae), Jake, and Brad Schmidt and grandkids Max and Hayden.
While Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew him he would want everyone to know he loved his family and friends and he will build a track in the sky and see you all later.
Memorial service will be held at the Exhibit Hall at the fairgrounds on August 11, 2024 at noon. Please bring your stories to share.
