Joy L. Sweeney

Joy L. Sweeney, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at the age of 68.
Born on June 27, 1956, in Winnemucca, Nevada, she lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family, friends and community.
Joy was a devoted wife to her husband, Gary Sweeney, with whom she shared 26 years of marriage.
As a mother, she nurtured and guided her children, Jeremy (Shannon) Edgar, Jacob (Ashley) Edgar, and Jillian Edgar, and stepchildren, Paul Sweeney and Nicole Sweeney, with unwavering love and support.
Her role as a grandmother brought her immense pride and happiness, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, Brandon, Tyson, Ryder, Brodie, Delanee, Halle, Saylor, Pacey, and Andrea.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothea Smith, her stepson, Paul Sweeney and her grandson, Tyson Edgar.
A sister to Jerry (Jane) Smith and Mike Smith, Joy was a pillar of strength and a source of endless support. She cherished her family deeply and was always there to offer a helping hand or a listening ear.
Joy had a fulfilling career in human resources, where she was known for her dedication to taking care of others.
Her compassionate nature and commitment to helping her colleagues created a positive and nurturing work environment.
She was admired for her ability to connect with people, offer support, and provide guidance.
Joy was known for her kindness, generosity, and the ability to make everyone feel special.
Her home was a gathering place for friends and family, where she welcomed all with open arms and a warm heart, creating beautiful memories that will be treasured forever.
Her presence in our lives was a blessing, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us.
