Nevada Lee York

January 31, 1932 - September 26, 2023

Nevada Lee York had her last ice cream cup on September 26, 2023, at Harmony Manor in Winnemucca.
She was born on January 31, 1932, in the family home at Flanagan Nevada to Lee Otto Rivers and Gwendolyn Mary Rivers.
Nevada was the first born of the Rivers’ clan joining older sisters, Mary and Paula.
She was blessed to have siblings Nadine, Dawn, Lee Otto, and June growing up.
The family lived in Flanagan and Wadsworth and finally settled in Sparks. Nevada graduated from Sparks High School in1949.
She was working as a telephone operator when she met Patrick York.
They married on November 5, 1951. Patsy, Michael, and Terry were born in Reno, then the family moved to Winnemucca where Richard and Jeff were born.
Nevada was a homemaker and master of many talents — nothing she couldn’t build or take apart.
She went to work at C B Brown’s when the oldest children were in High School. She retired from the BLM Winnemucca office in 1995.
Nevada lived at home alone doing all her own yard work until another fall took her to the hospital to mend a broken femur.
She was not able to return to her home and we are very grateful for the warm smiles and great care she received at Humbolt General Hospital and Harmony Manor in spite of her snapping commands to all, where she shared many a tale to everyone.
She loved her table mates, Jo, Wanda & Pauline and her longtime friends and visitors Carol, Kathy, Danielle, Cecil, Connie, Janelle and Peggy.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, husband, Pat, and son Terry.
She leaves children Patsy York (Vic Arzuaga), Mike and Vicky York, Dick and Diana York and Jeff and Robin York. Grandchildren Ashlee, Sydney, Amber, Brad (Heather), Patrick, Ceaira (Barrett) and Ty (Marissa).
Great Grandchildren Boston, Kyla, Dillon, Max, Jaylee, Makya, Cooper, Tucker, Parker, Phoebe, Adalyn, and Mia.
She loved all her Nieces and Nephews and their families.
Mom, we hope you saddle up LaPetite and are riding the hills and valleys of Pyramid Lake! Gone but never forgotten.
