49ers blindsided by county rules that make them homeless

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said the team was blindsided by new coronavirus regulations put in place by Santa Clara County officials that will force the 49ers to find a temporary new home for practice and games. The county announced the new rules Saturday that include a three-week ban on practices and games for contact sports starting Monday. Athletes of the month play waiting game

PCHS coaches bestow many awards during an active sports season. Often they go to the swiftest and strongest, but sometimes the coaches recognize other qualities. Readers can see for themselves the values the program encourages by studying three recent Lovelock Review-Miner athletes of the month. They each won the prize last spring. Devin Moura, a junior, is a two-time state wrestling runner-up. With no state championship tournaments on the near horizon, he’ll have to wait until his senior year for another shot at bringing home the gold.

It’s been a challenging eight months for Lovelock’s fitness club. In mid-March, due to the coronavirus, they shifted from in-person to Zoom meetings. With the help of technology, they still meet at 5 am every weekday morning – even on Thanksgiving Day. “We are holding strong,” says Stephanie Jaramillo, the instructor. “At first, it was an adjustment. You don’t get the same energy and push as when we were all at the gym together.”
