Lowry girls soccer gets back on winning track with blanking of Pershing County

Just a few days after suffering its worst loss of the season, the Lowry High School girls soccer team took out its frustrations against Pershing County on Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Lovelock. The Lady Bucks blanked the Mustangs 11-0, in a match shortened by the NIAA mercy rule.

Cassinelli finishes second in Fallon

It was scheduled to be another doubleheader week for the Lowry High School girls golf team. The Buckaroos traveled to Dayton and the Arnold Palmer designed Dayton Valley Country Club on Monday, Sept. 23.

Thomas wins at Truckee Cross Country Invitational

The Lowry High School cross country team made a trip to the Sierra Nevada Mountains this past Saturday for the Truckee Cross Country Invitational. The Buckaroos ran in the junior varsity portion of the 3.1-mile race, with sophomore Alyla Thomas winning the girls JV race in a time of 21 minutes, 46 seconds.

Lady Bulldogs sweep Braves

The McDermitt High School volleyball team collected its fifth win in six matches and stand in an excellent spot for the postseason in November. McDermitt hosted Owyhee on Saturday afternoon and cruised to a three-set sweep to improve to 5-2 in the 1A East.

Lowry golfers finish second at Spring Creek

The Lowry High School girls golf team and the remainder of the Northern 3A got hit with a dose of nasty weather from Mother Nature last week. Spring Creek hosted the Northern 3A on Monday, Sept. 16, in cool and wet conditions. Despite the bad weather, the top of the leaderboard looked the same as it did in the first two tournaments of the year.

Lowry’s Alyla Thomas finishes sixth at Lazy 5 Invitational in Sparks

Sophomore Alyla Thomas led the way for the Lowry High School cross country team, as the young sophomore runner placed sixth in the girls race at the Lazy 5 Invitational in Sparks on Friday afternoon. The 3.1-mile race was held at Lazy 5 Regional Park near Spanish Springs High School. Thomas finished the race in a time of 21:12.

Alvarez nets hat trick, as Lowry rallies to beat Churchill County

Even though the first half of the Northern 3A East came to end this past Friday, it was fair to say that it was a must-win situation for the Lowry High School boys soccer team against Churchill County. The Buckaroos entered the day fifth in league play at 4-2 and a loss would not help their cause.

Lowry drop matches to Spring Creek, Elko

Coming off three straight road wins over Northern 3A West opponents, the Lowry High School volleyball team returned to its home floor this past weekend to begin Northern 3A East play against Spring Creek and Elko. The Lady Bucks came up short in both matches, losing 33-31, 25-9, 25-23 to the Spartans on Friday night at 25-23, 25-8, 25-19 to the Indians on Saturday afternoon to fall to 0-2 in league play.

Spring Creek rallies to knock off Lowry

After opening the season at home in mid-August, the Lowry High School football team have been road warriors ever since. With a bye week thrown in, the Buckaroos completed a three-game road trip at Spring Creek on Friday night. The two rivals provided fireworks and the scoreboard operator busy with a combined 88 points.

It was a busy three days for the McDermitt High School volleyball team, who improved to 4-1 in the 1A East with two wins in three matches.
