The Lowry High School junior varsity baseball team closed out its home slate of games this season with a thrilling 17-16 victory over Fernley on a windy Saturday afternoon. The Buckaroos led the game 9-5 only see the Vaqueros come back and go in front 15-9. Lowry battled back and scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth, with the winning run coming on a suicide squeeze with bases loaded. The Buckaroos easily won the opener 11-1 and are 11-13 overall and 8-7 in the Division I-A North. Lowry travels to Lovelock Tuesday to play Pershing County at 4 p.m. and finish the year on Friday and Saturday in Spring Creek at 3 p.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.All photos by Tony Erquiaga, the Humboldt Sun
The Lowry High School junior varsity softball team hosted Fernley last Saturday in its final home games of the season. The Vaqueros swept two games from the Lady Bucks, winning 11-2 and 23-4. Lowry closes out its season with four games this week, starting Tuesday in Lovelock against Pershing County at 4 p.m. The Lady Bucks travel to Spring Creek for a single game on Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m.All photos by Tony Erquiaga, the Humboldt Sun

A few weeks ago it looked like the Lowry High School baseball team was a long shot to reach the Division I-A North Regional Championships.
The Winnemucca Events Complex was a busy place this past weekend as the Nevada High School Rodeo Association made its annual stop at the Winnemucca Events Complex, which was hosted by the Humboldt County Rodeo Club.
