For the first time since the 2021 season, the Lowry High School girls golf team will be in the 3A NIAA State Championship as a team. The Buckaroos finished second in the Northern 3A this fall to Truckee, with South Tahoe finishing third and advancing to state as well. Lowry and the Northern 3A closed out the regular season last week in Lake Tahoe.

After nearly a month without a game, the McDermitt High School football team was back on the field this past Saturday in Owyhee. The Braves picked up their first win of the season with a 28-12 victory over the Bulldogs.

The postseason opportunities for the Lowry High School boys soccer team took a hit this past weekend with two league losses in Elko County. Lowry traveled to Elko on Friday afternoon and suffered a 5-1 loss to the league-leading Indians.
The Lowry High School cross country team headed west last week headed west on I-80 last week for meets in Reno and Sparks. The Buckaroos were in Sparks and Reed High School this past Friday for the Reed Invitational at Shadow Mountain Park. Sophomore Alyla Thomas provided the best Lowry finish in the 5,000-meter girls varsity race in a time of 22:17.
The last time the Lowry High School girls soccer team played on its home field, school was in session for just a couple weeks and it was summer. Well, this past weekend still felt like summer, as the Lady Bucks were back home for the first time since Aug. 31. The two matches Lowry hosted were important for possible playoff seeding later this month for the Northern 3A Regional Championships.
Just a few days after suffering its worst loss of the season, the Lowry High School girls soccer team took out its frustrations against Pershing County on Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Lovelock. The Lady Bucks blanked the Mustangs 11-0, in a match shortened by the NIAA mercy rule.

It was scheduled to be another doubleheader week for the Lowry High School girls golf team. The Buckaroos traveled to Dayton and the Arnold Palmer designed Dayton Valley Country Club on Monday, Sept. 23.
The Battle Mountain High School boys soccer team were back home this past weekend during its homecoming week.
The Lowry High School cross country team made a trip to the Sierra Nevada Mountains this past Saturday for the Truckee Cross Country Invitational. The Buckaroos ran in the junior varsity portion of the 3.1-mile race, with sophomore Alyla Thomas winning the girls JV race in a time of 21 minutes, 46 seconds.
The McDermitt High School volleyball team collected its fifth win in six matches and stand in an excellent spot for the postseason in November. McDermitt hosted Owyhee on Saturday afternoon and cruised to a three-set sweep to improve to 5-2 in the 1A East.
Verner Chiropractic won the regular season and postseason tournament in the Men's Golf League this year.
