WYFL action heats up at the high school
The Lowry High School volleyball team was back on the road for three matches and suffered its first two losses in the Northern 3A during that stretch.
The Lowry High School boys soccer team suffered its third straight loss, with a 2-0 defeat at Elko on Wednesday night. It was the second straight contest the Buckaroos could not find the back of the net.
The Lowry High School cross country team made the trek to Idaho last Saturday and returned home with a number of personal bests from the Bob Firman Invitational.

The Lowry High School freshmen football team cruised to its second win of the season, crushing Wooster 54-12 this past Friday night in Winnemucca.
High school football games are 48 minutes long. Lowry High School was seconds away from pulling out its first win of the season on Friday night in Winnemucca against Wooster. The Buckaroos were driving with 48 seconds to play and were inside the Colts 10-yard line with under 10 seconds to play. However, an incomplete pass on fourth down ended Lowry’s chance for their first victory, as Wooster won 9-6.
The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh and eighth-grade girls basketball teams were on their home floor this past Saturday. The seventh-grade team defeated McDermitt 40-3 and Pershing County 33-0. The eighth-grade squad played Pershing County twice and won 33-2 and 33-6. Winnemucca is back home Saturday for the league championships at 9 a.m.
