Lowry High School graduates Mackenzie Swecker and Andrew Hillyer were inducted into the Winnemucca High School’s Hall of Fame during halftime of the boys varsity basketball game against Truckee on Saturday, Jan. 27.
The Lowry High School wrestling team began its postseason run this past weekend with the Northern 3A Duals in Fernley. The Buckaroos went 8-1 over the two days with the only loss against defending state champion Spring Creek. The duals set the seeding for the regional championship.

The McDermitt High School boys basketball team finished its last regular season road trip with a mixed bag of results. The Bulldogs had an easy time on Friday night, beating Wells 71-40 but lost 74-45 to league-leading Jackpot on Saturday afternoon. McDermitt remained in second place in the Eastern 1A at 5-2 and 8-13 overall.
In order to take full control of the Eastern 1A, the McDermitt High School girls basketball team had to pass one final test on the road. The Lady Bulldogs closed out a three-week road trip in style, with a 45-37 win over Wells on Friday night to move to 5-0 in the Eastern 1A and 15-2 overall.
