Kenison, Aguirre set new school records at home invitational

It was a special day for two Lowry High School track and field athletes, as they set new school records during the Don and Lynda Walton Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Brent Kenison won three individual events on the day, including setting a new school record in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet, 6 inches. He also led the way in the triple jump with a mark of 43-8 and the high jump (6-0). Kenison was seventh in the discus.

Camas finishes second in shot put

The McDermitt High School track and field team wrapped up the regular season this past Saturday at the Don and Lynda Walton Invitational at Lowry High School in Winnemucca. Shandon Camas turned in a second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 2 inches.

Longhorns drop three games

The Battle Mountain High School baseball team was back on the road this past weekend to face league-leading West Wendover. The Wolverines held on to the top spot in the Northern 2A, sweeping three games from the Longhorns.

Pershing County softball team improves to 18-0

The Pershing County softball team maintained its perfect record this past weekend after competing against the Battle Mountain Longhorns on the road. The Mustangs beat their rival school 11-1 in the opener and 16-4 in the closing game. They are 3-0 against the Longhorns for the season, having won (1-0) at home on April 2.

BMHS collects three important road wins

It was a busy three days for the Battle Mountain High School softball team with five games in that span. Battle Mountain hosted Pershing County on Thursday for a pair of games that was postponed early in April. The Mustangs remained perfect on the year winning 11-1 and 16-3.

PCHS hosts Lovelock Invitational

Pershing County High School hosted one of its major events of the year on Saturday – the Lovelock Invitational. Athletes, fans and coaches enjoyed the mild weather, especially after competing in some adverse conditions throughout the season.

Matti DeLong leads the way for Humboldt County at Washoe Rodeo

Humboldt County’s Matti DeLong took home a pair of event wins at the Washoe High School Rodeo, as the Nevada High School Rodeo Association made a stop on Match 30-31. DeLong set an average time of 31.259 seconds in barrel racing to beat out White Pine’s Brooklyn Sena by half a second. DeLong won the second performance with a time of 15.250, the fastest on the weekend.

Lowry swimmers collect wins over Incline

After a couple weeks off due to spring break in Washoe and other Nevada counties, the Lowry High School swim team returned to action at Incline on Saturday, April 13. The Buckaroo boys knocked off the Highlanders 63-35 and the girls won 117-64.

Lady Bucks keep playoff hopes alive with win at Fallon

After a slow start to the season, the Lowry High School softball team is starting to play some of its best ball of the year. The Lady Bucks were in Fallon last weekend to play league-leading Churchill County.

Buckaroos drop three to Greenwave in final road trip of the year

The Lowry High School baseball team made its final road trip of the season this past weekend with a three-game series against Churchill County in Fallon. The Greenwave maintained their playoff push to Spring Creek, winning all three games. Churchill County won 7-3 on Friday and swept a doubleheader 4-0 and 14-0 on Saturday. The Buckaroos dropped to 5-18 overall and 0-12 in league play.

Esquivel wins low medalist honors at home tournament

After nearly a month off since its first two tournaments at the end of March in Dayton and Fernley, the Lowry High School boys golf team and the Northern 3A got back on the course with tournaments in Winnemucca and Fallon last week.

Camas, Tobey win events at Ward Coates Invitational

McDermitt High School’s Shandon Camas and Laeloni Tobey came back home with individual wins at the War Coates Invitational held this past Friday at Spring Creek High School. Camas posted a personal best of 40 feet, 6.25 inches to lead the way in he shot put and he placed third in the discus (114-6) another top throw for him.

Longhorn track and field sweep team titles at Eureka Invitational

The Battle Mountain High School track and team rolled to the team titles at Friday’s Eureka Invitational with a number of strong individual performances. Battle Mountain senior Andy Wall swept the top spot in both hurdle events, setting personal bests in both. He stopped the watch at 16.4 in the 100-meter hurdles and 45.8 in the 300-meter hurdles.

Lowry track and field turns in strong performances at Fernley Invitational

Before the Fernley Invitational ended early due to high winds and a power outage, a number of Lowry High School track and field athletes had outstanding days.

PCHS baseball plays at Greater Nevada Field

Even though the scores didn’t all go as the Mustangs hoped, they had an epic baseball week. On Monday, April 8, they traveled to Battle Mountain to complete their sweep against the Longhorns (11-4, 17-11). The Mustangs went 3-0 against their rival school.
