Fortunately, Winter disappeared so we had a couple of great days of golf.
Following a bye week in the schedule, the Lowry High School baseball team began a six-game road trip this past weekend in Spring Creek. The Spartans entered the series as the Northern 3A East leader with just one loss on the season. Spring Creek remained on top of the standings, winning all three games 9-2, 4-0 and 8-4. Lowry dropped to 0-9 in league play and 5-15 overall.
The Pershing County High School track and field team competed in the Fernley Invitational last Friday. Angelo Gibson placed first in the 400 meters with a personal best and 800 meters.
When Mother Nature intervened a couple weeks ago, it created a busy week for the Battle Mountain High School baseball team. Battle Mountain made up a pair of games on Monday, April 8, in its home finale against Pershing County. The Mustangs collected wins in both ends of the doubleheader 11-4 and 17-11.
Nevaeh Serna represented the Battle Mountain NNA swim team at the Pacific Swimming Far Western Championships from April 4-7, at the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center in Pleasanton, Calif.
It has been a rough couple weeks for the McDermitt High School track and field team — due to bad luck and even worse weather.
With the end of the regular season quickly approaching, the Lowry High School softball team was desperately looking to get some wins to remain in playoff contention. The Lady Bucks did just that winning the final two games 11-2 and 9-6 after dropping the opener 9-7. Lowry improved to 3-6 in the Northern 3A East and 9-15 overall.
Last week, the Pershing County softball team successfully defended their perfect season against Oasis Academy. Midweek, Pershing County traveled to Fallon and beat Oasis 10-1. On Saturday, the Bighorns came to Pershing County. The Fallon school kept the scores close but lost 8-6 and 5-4 in nine innings) to the top team in the 2A, the Mustangs.
The Battle Mountain High School track and field team made its way across the state on Saturday to compete at the Big George Invitational in Minden. The meet featured some of the top 3A and 5A schools in the state.
The Pershing County High School softball team hosted Battle Mountain on Tuesday, April 2, and its rivals 1-0 in the close contest. Pershing County stands at the top of the Northern 2A at 13-0 and 15-0 overall.
The Pershing County High School baseball scored its first league win of the season on Tuesday, April 2 in Lovelock. The Mustangs beat rival school Battle Mountain 15-6.
A pair of young men on the Lowry High School track and field team continue to impress and are showing they will be tough to reckon with in the postseason in May.
On Saturday, March 30, the Lowry High School baseball field was named for long-time coach Ken Christean, who passed away in September 2022.
After playing four games earlier in the week in the Reno/Sparks area and being forced indoors for another two due to a snowstorm, the Lowry High School softball team was back on the field this past Saturday at North Valleys High School in Reno.
With a bye week in the Northern 3A East schedule, the Lowry High School softball team hit he road to Sparks and Reno for four games against Northern 5A schools.
