Public response to drug take-back days growing, DEA says

WASHINGTON - The Drug Enforcement Administration's Sixth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day collected 50 percent more pills than the previous one, according to a news release.

LOVELOCK - It seems I often receive calls from local producers shortly after the morning coffee shop crew adjourns for the day. Recently, I received a call asking, "What is the best height to mow forages for hay?"

LOVELOCK - Pershing County Library treated area children to El Dia De Los Niño, a Hispanic culture celebration translated as "The Day of the Children," on April 26. Children were treated to a special day just for them with lots of activities and entertainment.

RENO - University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will host its Annual Master Gardener Plant Faire and sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 18, at the Master Gardener Greenhouse #13, 920 Valley Road in Reno.

"You have to realize that in the time era these were made there was no television, probably no radio and for some no electricity. This was their entertainment for that era," said Jeanne Munk, a member of the Lovelock Country Quilters.

UNR announces first 'Girls in Engineering' summer camp

RENO - The College of Engineering will be hosting its first Girls in Engineering camp this summer. The weeklong camp, designed for girls ages 13-15, aims to encourage more girls to consider engineering as a career path.
