No Labels says Nevada, nation open to a third-party presidential ‘unity ticket’

No Labels, a national group contemplating a third-party presidential run next year, are pushing back against criticisms from Democrats that their theoretical “unity ticket” would inevitably help former president Donald Trump. “It’s hard to claim No Labels is spoiling a race that (President Joe Biden) is losing by quite a bit,” said Ryan Clancy, chief strategist for No Labels, in a call with Nevada press earlier this month.

Nevada rangeland taxed by wild horses, land managers plan round up

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (AP) — U.S. land managers are planning to round up more than 2, 800 wild horses across four Nevada counties beginning next week in an effort to reduce pressure on the drought-stricken rangeland. The Bureau of Land Management announced details of the operation Friday, saying the current wild horse population across portions of Pershing, Humboldt, Churchill and Lander counties is more than six times what it should be.

Educator scholarships to get $15 million infusion

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) is investing more than $15 million to grow Nevada’s educator workforce and support teacher recruitment and retention efforts through three different scholarship opportunities. Funding was made possible by Assembly Bills 400 and 515 and Senate Bill 503, passed by the Nevada Legislature and signed by Governor Lombardo during the 82nd legislative session. Touting ‘big win,’ conservation groups drop suit over axed Ash Meadows lithium project in Nye County

In a hard-fought victory for conservation groups in Nevada, federal land managers have agreed to provide public notice for all new exploration or mining projects near the Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge for the next 12 months. On Friday, the Center for Biological Diversity and Amargosa Conservancy agreed to drop their lawsuit against the Bureau of Land Management over the agency’s approval of a lithium exploration project near the refuge, after the federal land managers agreed to their terms. The project is located in Nye County.

Nevada ‘fake electors’ plead not guilty to felony charges in Las Vegas

Six Nevada Republicans, including state party Chair Michael McDonald, pleaded not guilty in a Clark County court on Monday to felony charges brought after their attempt to pledge the state’s electoral votes to Donald Trump following the 2020 election, despite President Joe Biden’s victory in the state. The charges came nearly three years after the defendants participated in a fake signing ceremony outside the Legislative Building in Carson City on the same day the state’s actual electoral votes were cast for Biden.
