RENO - University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the U.S. Department of Agriculture will host a workshop in Reno on Aug. 20 to provide information on agricultural economic trends and financial assistance available to mitigate drought impacts on Nevada's agricultural producers.
CARSON CITY - The Nevada Division of Forestry is seeking applications for the State Fire Assistance grant program. About $1 million from the National Fire Plan will be available for projects statewide. The purpose of this funding is to mitigate risk of wildfires in wildland-urban interface areas.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain Quilt Guild hosted another spectacular "How the West was Warmed Quilt Show," exhibiting several of their completed projects since their last show in 2011.

RENO - Funding is still available in northern Nevada from NV Energy's Sure Bet energy efficiency program for qualifying 2013 projects. Sure Bet offers cash incentives and technical assistance to commercial customers who invest in energy efficiency. Incentives are available for new construction, major renovation projects and existing facility project improvements.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The pedestrian bridge project in Battle Mountain is moving along, said Judie Allan, vice chair of the Lander County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC).
AUSTIN - Austin is gearing up for the Prospector's Dream Wine Walk and Sunset Dinner to be held Sept. 14. The wine walk is slated to include 10 to 12 businesses throughout the town and will be followed by a tri-tip dinner at Stokes Castle.
LAS VEGAS - After increases and volatility in fuel prices over the past several months, Nevadans are now taking a break from higher gas prices and paying relatively the same as a month ago, an average of  $3.66  per gallon of unleaded regular. While some metro areas show slight increases, other metro areas are showing a decrease in prices, according to the AAA Nevada monthly gas survey.  
CARSON CITY - The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) reported a 2012 recycling rate of 28.8 percent, surpassing the state goal of 25 percent.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The world's fastest humans from around the world including France, Russia, Scotland, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland, Uruguay and many collegiate teams and their pedal-powered vehicles will attempt to break the current land speed record of 82.819 mph set by Sam Whittingham from British Columbia, Canada, in 2009, and the women's record set by Barbara Bautois from Draveil, France, in 2010 of 75.69 mph.
WASHINGTON - The European Union (EU) will continue to provide U.S. beef producers with significant access, at zero duty, to the EU market for high-quality beef produced from non-hormone-treated cattle, according to the USDA.
