Students receive treats for academic success

In the spring of each year, all ninth graders take several practice tests to help prepare them for the high stakes state tests at the end of their 10th grade year. The results are also used to help teachers make informed instructional decisions and adjustments within their classrooms. The students with the top scores in reading, mathematics and science are rewarded with a trip for ice cream with their teacher. Students with top scores in two or more tests had lunch with their principal, Susan Baldwin.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - For the second year in a row, the Lander County Community Health Nurse Office received the Silver Syringe Award. This year, it was for the "Greatest Improvement Rate for 2-Year-Olds" for immunizing a greater number of 2-year-olds in 2012.
