WINNEMUCCA - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Winnemucca District, Black Rock Field Office is soliciting public comment on the Jackson Mountains Herd Management Area (HMA) Wild Horse Gather Plan Preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA).

Stewardship success in the Santa Rosas Volunteers to restore burn area in Nevada

WINNEMUCCA - Community members of Winnemucca volunteered their time out on the Santa Rosa Ranger District this weekend and had tremendous stewardship success. About 18 volunteers worked together on the project to tackle Tom Basin on its opening weekend. Over the course of one day these volunteers were able to help revive land seriously damaged by the wildfire in 2011 out on the Tom Basin area in Paradise Valley.

City spraying for mosquitoes

WINNEMUCCA - The City of Winnemucca will be aerial spraying for mosquito larval control in the early morning hours through Monday, April 30, weather permitting.The spray will cover the Humboldt River flood plain area. The material to be used is Vectobac-12-AS and is toxic only to mosquitoes. No special precautions are necessary.
